Mental Health Skill Building (MHSS)

Mental Health Skill Building (MHSS) provides training and skill-building for adults with mental illness, emotional disturbance and individuals who struggle with independence and activities of daily living.

Our counselors provide individuals with a centered approach including:

• Individual and/or group counseling
• Behavior management
• Crisis intervention family counseling
• Psychoeducational intervention

Goal:
This service is designed to help achieve and maintain community stability and independence by enhancing independent living skills.​​

Who is eligible for Mental Health Skill Building?

 Adults who are 18 years of age or older and have the following as a primary Axis 1 DSM diagnosis:

Diagnosis:

  • Psychotic Disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • PTSD
  • Bipolar I/II
  • Major Depressive Disorder

Additionally, the individual shall:

  • Require individualized training in acquiring basic living skills.
  • Prior history of a psychiatric hospitalization, residential crisis stabilization, Intensive community treatment, PACT services, TDO or TDO evaluation.
  • Prescription for anti-psychotic, mood stabilizing, or anti-depressant
